Dreams are so fascinating and they come in so many different shapes and sizes. Everyone has their very own way of producing these mind played dramas within their own mind and I have an excellent time hearing from all of you when you feel the need to share your dreams with us.
Perhaps you are looking for an interpretation from the minds eye of someone else, I try my best to help with this when someone is seeking advice on their dreams, so feel free to take advantage of the comments for this purpose.
So, to cut to the chase let me introduce this next post in the dream series… We are going to cover dreams that involve what are known as Bad Deeds! Yep that’s right, we all have a little bad side to us whether it’s in real life or if we choose to let this side of us slip out while dreaming.
To be more specific I’m talking about Interpreting Dreams of Crime and Violent Acts. These are most certainly some of the more disturbing of dreams, but let’s face it…these types of dreams do sometimes occur. So what do they mean, and what are we trying to tell ourselves. Without further adieu, let’s get straight to the good stuff.
What do Dreams about Crime and Acts of Violence Mean?
Most experts will tell you that anytime you dream of committing a crime or act of violence this is normally a reflection of your inner feelings acting out. For instance a negative type action in your dream will usually symbolize the darker side of your human nature, you may also choose to call this your shadow side.
This shadow side is basically a culmination of all the things you have been repressing or denying, this is often times the side of you that you do not wish to believe is there. But as I stated earlier, it’s there whether you like it or not, it’s just human nature. But it’s most certainly better to let this side of you show itself while dreaming than in the waking life, wouldn’t you agree?
When you dream of these darker sided things, it is your minds way of telling you to release and to bring these things to the open part of your mind, this way the repression may subside and it won’t effect you as much in your daily living.
Dreams that involve violence may also reveal feelings about yourself or others around you that you have contact with in waking life. As always it’s very important to pay close attention to the little details concerning the violent acts if you are to apply it to your life which will help you better understand and interpret these dreams.
But there is good hope for these types of dreams, they are very seldom predictive of things that may happen in real life, so there’s not much worry that you will commit these offenses while awake.
But there is one exception, recurring dreams of committing the act of rape may suggest extreme violent tendencies and these feelings could possibly carry over in your waking life. If you are having recurring dream like this, then I suggest strongly you seek some professional help before it’s too late.
Anyway, with all that said and done, let’s go over some specific dream scenarios and discuss what they may mean.
Common Interpretations for Dreams of Crime
Committing Acts of Deception While Dreaming
If while dreaming you find yourself lying or cheating, or even if you hear someone else doing this, it may be an indication of guilty feelings or maybe you feel you’ve not been honest in the waking life. This may also be an indicator that you feel someone else has been this way towards you. Recurring instances of this type of dream may suggest you have been living a lie in real life and it’s time to be honest with yourself.
This type of message may also be delivered to you in the form of a dream involving stealing, forgery, fraud and even blackmail. On the other hand, if you aren’t really the one committing the awful acts, but you witness someone else doing these things, then it could be because you are feeling guilt for witness something wrong in the waking life and you’ve chosen to ignore it.
If any of these scenarios are being inflicted upon you by someone else in a dream, then ask yourself one simple question, “Who has done me wrong in waking life”. As this may be a sign someone has intentionally done you wrong in real life and you may not of noticed.
Dreaming of Being Punished for a Crime
You may also find yourself dreaming of the punishment phase of a certain wrong doing. Of course waking from a dream like this normally leaves you feeling quite relieved that you weren’t in fact involved in the crime or the punishment. But that doesn’t mean you will not experience anxiety left over from such a feeling.
If this is the case, it’s quite important to try and identify any feelings that you had during this dream, this will help greatly with the interpretation. Try to remember if you had feelings of guilt or anger, and maybe you felt the punishment was unjust or undeserved. Feeling guilty may be symbolic of something that causes your piece of mind to be disturbed.
But what if you were actually caught committing a crime in your dream, and then you find yourself awaiting the punishment, what would this mean? This is certainly your minds way of telling you that your dreaming mind disapproves of such actions and if you don’t change your ways, then your wrong doings will be discovered in the waking life.
If the person in charge of the punishment is someone you know, then you probably have remorse for something you’ve done wrong to this person in life. But if the punisher is not someone you know, it could simply mean you are feeling guilty for being disrespectful towards an authority figure.
Lynch mobs normally represent society as a whole, and being attacked by one is symbolic of committing a crime against the masses, such as littering, or playing your music too loud in residential neighborhoods. Here are a few other scenarios with a short explanation:
Being Whipped: A feeling that life has dealt you harsh blows.
Being Arrested: Represents a need for restraint in the waking life.
Forensic Team Present: Your minds way of telling you to take a look at your motives.
Stealing in Your Dreams
Stealing, burglary or anything of the sort is a suggestion of feeling envious of someone else, meaning you want something they have. The most important factors of this type of dream would be WHO are you stealing from and WHAT are you taking. This will greatly help with the interpretation.
Dream Interpretations for Violence
Accidents are often times associated with violence while dreaming and if you are having this type of dream you may want to read my post Meanings for Having Accidents in Your Dreams for a better understanding of these.
Dreams that involve some sort of ambush or abduction may represent your desperate attempts in the waking life to ward off humiliation of some sort. Particularly if you are being abducted or ambushed in your dream then try thinking of someone you feel is trying to control you in life.
If you are dreaming and you begin attacking someone, this normally suggests a hidden hostility towards someone that you know in real life. If this is the case then try to remember what caused the incident, because this could be your dreaming minds way of dealing with pent up frustrations and this was your way of release.
Being the victim of a violent act while dreaming is quite possibly your way of punishing yourself for something you’ve done while awake. If the person committing violence against you is someone you know in real life, then maybe there’s something you’ve done to that person and you’re feeling guilty.
It may also be symbolism for being aware of how you treat others in life. If you are being treated violently by others in your dream it may be the minds way of telling you to be careful not to upset others in life.
Being in Front of a Firing Squad: May represent feelings of victimization.
An Animal Attacker: This could represent an internal conflict with yourself rather than an outside attacker.
So that is a lot of information on dream interpretations involving acts of violence and crime. I know this post is rather long, but I tried to cut some of these explanations quite short in an effort to keep it as short as possible. But as many of you already know, dream interpretation is not a simple thing, in fact most explanations may be quite complex and have several different meanings depending on the scenario and the person. So I challenge you to remember in keeping your dream journal on your nightstand and write down as much as you can when you first wake up.

When i was around 8 or 9 i had this dream of this man coming into my home and killing my parents. My brother and i were able to escape and heard this man scream saying that he will find us and that we shouldn’t worry. I had that dream about 3 or 4 times when i was younge and don’t remember dreaming of it again. Well im 26 now and had a similar dream and with the same man, but this time it was my fiance. It just so happened to be at a cabin that my fiance and his family would go camping at. Mind you i have never been there nor has he ever mentioned it to me before. I started telling him about this nightmare and he started to describe what the cabin looked like to me and it was the same cabin that was in my dream that he and I and our kids were at. I vaguely remember what the man looked like from when i was a child and it is the same man. I don’t know who he is or why i started having this dream again but it is starting to bother me concidering my mother passed away a few years ago and my dad has had a few strokes and doest remember much about when my brother and i were younger… any insight on what this could mean…
Hi I was wondering if you could interpret a dream I had, I was in a large city and my job was firefighter, We replied to a call about a protests getting out of hand and when we got to the place people were arguing and threatening each other, my comrades and myself tried to calm everybody down but apparently they were religious protesters against all things evil, they attacked us because we were gay and came after us to lynch us, we ran to hide and I was climbing walls and buildings to get to safety, suddenly i was reunited with my friends and we were going to a gay nightclub and i remembered i left my backpack where we hid, as I was walking back I was walking through a school and i walked in a classroom with Amish people that called me a witch, I then walked into a room with a military guy teaching that called me a disgrace, as I decided to forget about my bag and go back to my friends my little sister was outside with a puppy, which got slaughtered by a wolf and then my sister started eating, It was a very disturbing and scary, does it mean anything?

So me and a friend was picking my boyfriend up from a party and when I get there I tell and let him know to come on, let’s go! He is walking with a girl, and I keep telling him to get in the car because he is drunk hitting on some girl right in front of me, any who.. so the girl and I start fighting, I think I started the fight.I end up beating her up pretty bad, her friends pick her up and take her home. A couple minutes later I was standing there talking to my boyfriend. When a cop walks over and tells me I’m under arrest for murder, which I didn’t commit. It was a horrific dream. I’m just glad I woke up!! Please help me understand.
I had a very peculiar dream. I was in the church then there was a crime of murder. I was kind of walking around outside then I saw: a compost pit of garbage then a dead man was there. In my dream I was shocked then went to the church (and told someone: the priest or the crime investigator, I guess. I’m not really sure) but the people knew and then they were going near that compost pit and some even placed their hand on their mouth because of this disgust. I’m not sure again but I think the dead man was murdered by his wife.
I had a dream that I meet up with someone I used to know from high school.. in this dream he showed strong feelings for me, and said he was never letting me go as I walked him to his car.. the dream did a sudden switch we’re I was the guy I new from high school and I was floating cuz I was a vampire and I could see myself threw the window.. I was trying to convince myself to let me in, but my true self was not letting me in.. so I tried getting in threw someone else that was in the house by killing them, and this is we’re the dream ended…
I had a dream last night we drove out to see Las Vegas….we lost ourselves in the bright lights.
I had a dream last night that someone I cared about was being attacked by someone and I was reaching to help them but I couldn’t reach them. And the threat was still around then no one in particular was in his sights, it could have been anyone next. I found myself gathering all my cats and the rest of the pets that were at this party of sorts and trying to lock us all into a room. That was the end of the dream if you could just give me a vague idea of what that might mean I’d appreciate it.

OK my dream is a little weird I was near my home and I kept finding this guy I didn’t know beaten and I kept helping him.one day I was walking and I saw the other guy that was hurting the other guy so Iwalked up to the other guy and just started hitting him he kept saying I couldn’t hurt him like that so I pounded his face in to a chain link fence and his face was all messed up and after I was done I turned around to walk away backwards and he pulled out a nerf gun but loaded with real bullets saying did you have your gun so I turned to run away and he shot me multiple times like the gun was a machine gun but the strange think to me is I don’t run from danger could you let me know what this dream means
Last night I had a very strange dream I can’t get over. But in the dream I tried killing this guy that kidnapped me and another girl whom I don’t now. I remember he kept hitting me with books and I would start getting angry and huffing and puffing. I remember he said o your getting mad hey. The only thing I remember is turning around cause he was behind me and I kept stabbing him. He had the car keys in his hands. I remember hearing him calling 911 telling them he’s been stabbed and he’s losing his vision and can’t see. I also remember he threw the keys over his head. When I seen he did this I remember running to the corner and picking up the keys. But I guess he realized his mistake and tried coming after me cause he wanted the keys. I now I woke up at this point. Please someone help me with this dream.
Hello, I just woke up from a re-accusing dream ( I think ) I honestly don’t remember if it was a movie I saw or if I dreamt it before. But it was so violent that I woke crying! I was living at my parents house again, then some guy in a green pick up comes flying down my street and purposely broke my parents fence in the front yard as if he knew it would make my dad come out angry yelling and screaming. Now I’ve only met that got once and I’m friends with him on Facebook. After he gets the reaction he wants he just up and leaves, I try to call the cops but it seemes that just made it worse. I run outside to leave to personally go to the cops and my friend from work drives by I flag him down and that was a mistake,no sooner did I get on the car a massive semi truck comes barreling threw my front yard almost hitting us, it made its drive off into the creek next top my house. Him and I survived, hopped my fence and were inside my yard but then my friend just disappeared. I run to my living room window looking out the semi truck had disappeared too. Then I get a call from this woman whom I’ve never met just seen get in a couple movies, she is almost black mailing me to help her, so I do. Next thing I know I’m outside next to a small white car ( it looked familiar the car) a woman with red hair is behind me, we talk about how I do this favor for her and nothing else bad will happen… then I said something about how I don’t want to be pregnant anymore so I went to spit in her water bottle like she asked me to and it was coming out orange (like that really sugary drink you do to test if you are on the verge of becoming diabetic during your pregnancy) when that was happening that green pick up came back (I have an exact truck that lives in my neighborhood) I don’t know when it just appeared. A man walked up behind her and hit her over the head with a giant harder plastic guitar. I scam my head off I’m trying to dodge getting hit in the process then my dad comes out to try and help me. Now this guy that just murdered this woman is the American guy with curly blonde haihair from the movie Blood Sport. Now with all this adrenaline rising threw me I dragged her lifeless body to my backyard and threw her over the fence yelling to my mom she’s in the back yard. Then I hear a loud yell behind me. That guy sWung at me and missed I’m running away, behind me I hear my fence being busted down and a blood curtailing scream coming from my mom as she watched this woman being bludgeoned to death with that guitar. When I get to the front of my house I see my dad, stripped down to his underwear bleeding from his head lifeless. So I pick him up trying to drag him into the house, when the guy is back yelling like a wild animal. I dropped my dad after being startled by the loud roar, I sadly leave him there in order to protect the rest of my family. And I hear the beating of a dead body thumping on the cement walk way. Then no sooner he is breaking down the front door and entering the house I tell to my mom and brother get to the attic bit then I leave them in the shed that’s in our backyard and lock them in. I know they are safe then. I head back to the house, I’m in the front yard now, I take the green truck, and start heading down the road I look down and see a timer that had been triggered by the beast man in my house, so I jump out as a truck drives by and land in the bed of his truck! My truck explodes, I try explaining to the person driving what is going on and what happens next I cried! He turns down my street to my house pulls me out of the car and I run straight into my house, I house under my parents bed. The beast man enters a few seconds after me. Lays down on the bed almost crushing me. Then I’m dragged by my feet from under the bed into the open room. All I could feel was tingling, fear, sadness. Then I wake up! Some body please tell me why I dreamt this horrific nightmare!
