Do you value your soul?

Some people have been to the point of selling their souls on eBay to pay the bills. The following stories are a few desperate attempts to sell their soul for some quick cash.

Sorry! You Can’t Sell Souls on eBay

One man attempted to sell his soul on eBay for $5,000 USD. The item title read: “my soul – One HUMAN SOUL – REAL!!” and the condition was stated in “Like new condition.” The item description read: “One human soul, male, 24 years old in this life cycle. Clean and free of liens and satanic rutuals Very playful soul, curious yet wise…Still early enough to make it your own! This soul only has a few years on it, practically brand new.”

He reportedly only received one offer of $666 from a Canadian man, well below the $5,000.00 asking price.

eBay took his post down because it was a violation of their Terms of Service, required that only tangible items were allowed to be posted on eBay.

This wasn’t the First “Soul Sale” on eBay

In December 2008, a jobless musician by the name of Dante Knoxx attempted to sell his “used” soul after being out of work.

He listed his soul at a starting bid of £25,000.50, or a “buy it now” price of £700,000 on the auction site eBay. Dante Knoxx was a resident of Bournemouth, Dorset (UK).

Again, eBay was not amused, and took down his listing for his soul. Unfortunately, his repertoire does not include soul music.

Dante Knoxx Disappointed He Could Not Ditch His Soul on eBay

Dante Knoxx said this about the event: “I had lots of emails asking if I was serious and religious groups telling me I couldn’t do that, others wanted to talk about my soul. I had a lot of interest, but no actual bidders, which is a real shame.”

Yet Another Attempt to Sell a Soul

Lori N. from Albuquerque, is yet another person out of work and desperate, that tried to sell her soul on eBay in the Summer of 2012. Her occupation is freelance writing, but the work had dried up for her.
 v
Lori N. had been in a car accident in 2007, which resulted in a rather hefty medical bill after waking up from a coma with a broken hip, pelvis, collarbone, sternum, ribs, and a collapsed lung.

She told news station KOB that it was a “cry for help.”

“I guess you could say that. I’m at the point now, I’m tired,” Lori N. said. “I don’t feel good. I’m near the end of my rope. I really am.”

  1. Okay ~ that is really odd. I never thought that there would be someone who would think of selling souls on eBay. If ever eBay would allow this, the mastermind is surely one heck of a entrepreneur.

    1. Hero,
It is bizarre that people would consider selling their souls for some money.

  3. Wow, it’s the first time I hear about such things. Yeah, it’s too bad for those people who attempt to auction their souls, but that is absolutely impracticable because the material and spiritual realms are quite different.

  4. very amazing , just heard from your post.. how people can think to sell their soul.. ?

  5. Hi Zack, very interesting article. I wasn’t aware that anyone had ever tried to sell their soul on eBay. That’s pretty crazy if you ask me and bordering on the line of dangerous depending on your religious beliefs.

  6. Hi Zack, your article is superb. I first time realise after reading your article that money is very powerful. How much man is helpless to sold his soul for money. It is very sad.

  7. Hi Zack,

Selling soul for money? Sounds like pact with the devil. Did they think anyone would buy their soul?

    1. Hugh,
I agree. People should not joke around about their souls. But at the same time, this is a cry for help. Hopefully, someone will take notice.

  8. eBay is the place where you can sell anything, but I do not think anyone has to wait a soul … no comment!

    1. Madalina,
Do you think a person should be able to sell their soul? How would they give someone proof of the sale?
