Do you value your soul?

Some people have been to the point of selling their souls on eBay to pay the bills. The following stories are a few desperate attempts to sell their soul for some quick cash.

Sorry! You Can’t Sell Souls on eBay

One man attempted to sell his soul on eBay for $5,000 USD. The item title read: “my soul – One HUMAN SOUL – REAL!!” and the condition was stated in “Like new condition.” The item description read: “One human soul, male, 24 years old in this life cycle. Clean and free of liens and satanic rutuals Very playful soul, curious yet wise…Still early enough to make it your own! This soul only has a few years on it, practically brand new.”

He reportedly only received one offer of $666 from a Canadian man, well below the $5,000.00 asking price.

eBay took his post down because it was a violation of their Terms of Service, required that only tangible items were allowed to be posted on eBay.

This wasn’t the First “Soul Sale” on eBay

In December 2008, a jobless musician by the name of Dante Knoxx attempted to sell his “used” soul after being out of work.

He listed his soul at a starting bid of £25,000.50, or a “buy it now” price of £700,000 on the auction site eBay. Dante Knoxx was a resident of Bournemouth, Dorset (UK).

Again, eBay was not amused, and took down his listing for his soul. Unfortunately, his repertoire does not include soul music.

Dante Knoxx Disappointed He Could Not Ditch His Soul on eBay

Dante Knoxx said this about the event: “I had lots of emails asking if I was serious and religious groups telling me I couldn’t do that, others wanted to talk about my soul. I had a lot of interest, but no actual bidders, which is a real shame.”

Yet Another Attempt to Sell a Soul

Lori N. from Albuquerque, is yet another person out of work and desperate, that tried to sell her soul on eBay in the Summer of 2012. Her occupation is freelance writing, but the work had dried up for her.
 v
Lori N. had been in a car accident in 2007, which resulted in a rather hefty medical bill after waking up from a coma with a broken hip, pelvis, collarbone, sternum, ribs, and a collapsed lung.

She told news station KOB that it was a “cry for help.”

“I guess you could say that. I’m at the point now, I’m tired,” Lori N. said. “I don’t feel good. I’m near the end of my rope. I really am.”

  1. Wow Zack, super interesting article. I wasn’t aware that anyone had ever tried to sell their soul on eBay. That’s pretty crazy if you ask me and bordering on the line of dangerous depending on your religious beliefs.

I am certainly glad to hear that no one actually made a purchase. Although the Canadian man offering $666 would be enough for me to pull the auction…lol

    1. first time i heard about this thing…..in an article its interesting but in real life it just an non-sense thing which i ever seen….i will never appreciate such a ridiculous behaviour.

  2. It is a sad state when people want to sell their soul for money. I hope these people were able to find some help.

  3. This is an interesting story but very sad enough to see and know about someone who want sell his soul for money.

  4. I agree, it is a sad state in the world when people think selling their soul will solve money problems.

  5. Ebay should have allowed the first sale and the follow up to see how the buyer who’d collect the soul

  6. Interesting article Zack ! I think people who do such things are depressed and facing problems in their lives o they might be simply doing this for fun .

  7. Hi Zack
    Hahahah
OMG really people actually do that kinda stuff. In India there is a free classified site named OLX. The link got viral because a person is trying to sell his used underwear.
I have heard that MJ’s Used underwear was also on auction on Ebay.
    RIP MJ
    Regards

  8. It’s interesting to read about all the crazy things people try to sell online. I think it’s a mix of people desperate for money and people who are just messing around to see if anyone will bid on it.

  9. I wish that these people realized that their soul is more important than just something that they view is useless and just like an organ to sell. I personally believe that the soul is important and that decisions you make in this life will determine the outcome of your soul.

But not everyone understands and/or agrees about how important one’s soul is.
